About Sea Yoga

BIO – Thaedra Frangos.

Thaedra founded Sea Yoga in Torquay in 2012. Thaedra’s yoga journey was inspired from the feeling she had following her first class with Ros Dennett (Buttonshaw) in 1996. The noise, anxiety, disembodiment and grief settled and she felt like she had returned home to her true self which was clear, calm, equalised and whole. Sporadic attendance at class turned into regular attendance and home practice and then in 2004, she went to her first Ashtanga vinyasa class.

The landscape changed again and a new level of healing and self discovery began. Thaedra began attending mysore classes at Yoga Om in Perth and fell in love with this early morning ritual of breathing, moving and deepening. In 2009, the time was right to go part time in her day job as a lawyer and undertake teacher training and the official teaching journey began. Later that year Thaedra attended a workshop with Matthew Sweeney and began her journey with Vinyasa Krama incorporating Chandra Krama The Moon Sequence, a complementary sequence to the Ashtanga Primary Sequence.

Thaedra is an experienced, compassionate, intuitive teacher with a strong commitment to learning through self practice, life experience and ongoing guidance from her teachers. Her teaching experience is broad and includes led classes, self practice, groups, prenatal, postnatal, corporate classes, high schools, fitness centres, private lessons and yoga studios. Her teaching is also enhanced by her years of experience communicating effectively and compassionately with people from a broad range of backgrounds with varying needs during a decade working for the Ombudmsan’s office, privacy commissioner and as a lawyer.

Thaedra’s teaching method is earthy and intuitive and draws on her experience in Hatha yoga in the Ashtanga and Iyengar traditions as well as her background in classical dance and her explorations through self practice and somatic practices. She takes a creative and intuitive approach to each class and aims to assist each individual to relax and find their own practice. Thaedra is passionate about guiding students to reconnect with themselves at their core, exploring the felt sense and inviting a deeper awareness and love of their body and greater trust in intuition. Thaedra’s classes encourage strength, flexibility and balance in the mind and body and support self-healing.

Thaedra is grateful for the influence and wisdom of her yoga mentors and students, past and present particularly Matthew Sweeney, Ros Dennett, Moksha (Regi Clarence), Njala Sankhulani, Dominique Santana Salerno and Simon Borg-Olivier.

“I was the lucky winner of a month free during May at a time when I really needed to be topped up! The smaller class size means lots of individual adjustments and encouragement for whatever your challenges and strengths. Thaedra has a grounded, nurturing presence, highly intuitive and supported me to get centred again. You know things happen to put you in touch with the right people, that’s the bigger outcome for me! Thanks Thaedra / Sea Yoga”
